Sony already launched the Xperia 1 V and Xperia 10 V and it is expected that the Xperia 5 V will be revealed sometime this fall. Thankfully, we do not need to wait that long to catch a glimpse of the next flagship Android smartphone. A leak of the device has apparently appeared in an official-looking video, revealing much of the exterior changes such as having one less camera and retaining the 3.5 mm audio jack.

The 49-second clip was shared by Redditor JB2unique and appears as a promotional video for the Xperia 5 V or Mark V. What is easily noticeable is the new camera layout that consists of a dual camera module instead of the triple configuration on the Xperia 5 IV. It is widely speculated that the telephoto camera will be dropped, keeping the ultra-wide and primary snapper with Zeiss optics.

The front of the Sony Xperia 5 V has the same thick bezels on top and bottom as the predecessor, which can be uneasy on the eyes. The selfie camera is housed on top instead of utilizing a punch-hole design. The bezels at the sides do look more prominent due to the thinner frame.

Furthermore, we can briefly see the side-mounted fingerprinted scanner located below the physical button on the right. One of the highlights showed off the 3.5 mm audio jack, which is a common feature among Sony's Xperia smartphones. The device was also shown in three colorways: black, white, and blue.

Sony's Xperia 5 V should be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset mated to 16 GB of RAM and is widely anticipated to run on Android 13, similar to the Xperia 1 V that our colleague Ben reviewed. In addition, it is said this will carry an unchanged 5,000 mAh battery, but with a faster wired charging speed at 33 watts. Details about the remaining specifications and features remain scarce.

With the leaked design and specifications, do you consider the Sony Xperia 5 V a flagship that is worth waiting for? Let us know your answers in the comments.

I still remember how amazed I was when I first got hold of the Nokia 3210 back when I was a kid, and it was during that time I developed my love for technology, particularly for mobile phones. I started sharing my knowledge through writing in different blogs and forums back in Nokia Nseries era. I even make videos before where I put different phones side-by-side. Today, I'm still an avid enthusiast of smartphones, but my interests have evolved into smart devices and electric vehicles.
